- Turn on ATC and Alerter on panel on top of rear cabin
- Sit in driver's seat
- Put key in on position
- Move reverser to neutral position
- Headlights on (lower left), markers off (upper left switches)
- Move controller to max brake
- Charge brakes - button just to right and below throttle
- Turn on cab light if you wish - white rocker switch above alerter acknowledge lever
- Check that interior saloon lights are on - right switch on panel top left of windscreen
- Wipers knob above horn button on left wall panel
- Put door key in - top right of windscreen
- Turn key to left - doors and comm.
- Unlock rearward doors - in real life done by conductor further back in train
- Lock rearward doors
- You can take take the key out as the driver would not normally control the doors
- When you want to reduce throttle setting from say 4 to 3, you have to go back to 0 and reapply to 3
- Q does not acknowledge ATC. You have to use the mouse. Q does work for dead man pedal
Avanced
- Accelerate to 2 - 3 mph and perform a brake check
- LIRR mandate a second brake test at 30mph
- Apply more than 40% braking then acknowledge within 7 seconds
